About Fran

Fran is a 29 year old artist and illustrator painting all things local. Her work is driven by a love of her hometown and celebrating its heritage alongside capturing its rustic seaside charm.

Through watercolour and pen, Frans aim is to create vibrant, imagined scenes of the local area in a lively, distinctive and illustrative style.

Although the paintings are based on the buildings seen today, she likes to piece together her favourite places so they lie somewhere between reality and imagination.

Fran studied Fine Art at University and after graduating,  decided to travel and live in Spain for four years to teach English.

After spending the first lockdown in Granada unable to leave her apartment (even for a walk!) she began painting again.

Feeling nostalgic and homesick, Fran started painting Grimsby and Cleethorpes as a way to feel closer to home and family and she really hasn't stopped since!

That was over a year ago now and in that time she has moved home, changed her spare room into a studio and set up in business which is now her full time job.

As well as painting local scenes Fran also works on turning her illustrations into homeware products; with tea towels and coasters produced so far, but with lots of new ideas to come!
